I have attended several conferences and have met hundreds of successful personalities. As it is expected that people would ask for their contact information, they prepare boxes of calling card printed in cardboard or some special paper, in fact many of them will have their cards ready available at the conference hall entrance for people to easily pick them up whenever they need them. What saddened me is that a lot of this call cards are left elsewhere by those people who asked for them or that some people misplace them because these papers can be folded easily.

My observation is that people would prefer to keep cards made of metal or plastics such as debit cards or credit cards and the like. People tend to associate these types of cards as valuables. A month before the business conference where my former boss was invited to as guest speaker, he asked us to print business cards in a special paper/card board. I told my boss about the possibility of his paper business cards scattered all over the place after the meeting. The good thing was he asked me for any idea so that people will keep them. I suggested plastic or metal business card printing. I thought he did not take my suggestion seriously because he just turned back and left us so we keep on printing his business cards in the special paper he gave us.
Three weeks after that short conversation we were surprised to see a box of plastic and metal business cards, debit card size placed at our table. He then instructed us to segregate a number of them and place them together with the paper business cards. We ushered attendees in the event and true enough after the meeting we see a lot of paper business cards left in chairs and floor. The sets of metal and plastic business card were gone but none of them see scattered of left elsewhere. My boss looked at me, smiled and said, “those cards are a bit costly but they are great investment.”
